Top tips for choosing password.

Some great tips for making really good passwords follow.

Think of passwords that are easy for you to remember, so you don’t have to write them down.
Make sure that your passwords are really hard for anyone else to guess.
Think of a different one from all your other passwords.
Passwords should be at least eight characters long.
Use a combination of big and small letters, numbers and symbols.
You should be able to type your passwords quickly so nobody watching you can tell what they are.
Any password you choose should be changed frequently. That means once a month for important ones like your bank password, but less often for others.

Keep it safe
Once you’ve got a good password, don’t ever tell it to anyone, and never write it down.

Don’t ever e-mail your password to anyone, and if anyone calls or e-mails asking you for your password, don’t tell them – there is no reason at all why your bank or any website should need to know your password.

When you’re visiting a website and you get asked for your password unexpectedly, always check that you’re really on the site you think you are.

Some fraudsters make fake sites that look like Hotmail or a bank, and use them to trick people into giving away their passwords.

Changing passwords
You should change a password regularly – at least every month for your bank account – and you should only use it for one thing.

Otherwise if a password thief finds it out they’ll be able to get into all your secret places.

Some passwords are more important than others. The password for your bank account needs to be a really good one, but the one you use to play Neopets with your young daughter probably doesn’t matter as much.

Remember, if you don't change your passwords regularly it's especially important to choose good ones!

Making it easier
And if you really think you won’t be able to remember lots of different passwords, then there are programs you can use to keep a note of them all like Password manager by XMicro.com.
